Our Story
During the holiday season, I was watching a Christmas movie. In the movie, the actress was delighted that her friend had brought her some of their mother's sweet potato cookies. I exclaimed, "sweet potato cookies." I love sweet potatoes, but I've never heard of sweet potato cookies. I have never baked anything before in my life. However, I baked sweet potato cookies every week beginning December 24 through February, in my attempts to bake the perfect cookies. I took a break and started baking again in mid-March. I experimented with cornbread, pound cake, and donuts. I allowed coworkers, family, and friends to be taste testers. My taste tester size was approximately 100 people. Two revelations resulted from the taste test. First, everyone stated they had never heard of sweet potato cookies. Secondly, everyone stated, "these cookies are so good!!" After receiving the same feedback on the sweet potato pound cake, cornbread, and donuts; Yams Foods was born. ​
